RESEARCH FOCUS TechCareLab: (New) Technologies in Healthcare

Focus: The TechCare Lab research team aims to co-develop, revise and test (new) technologies (e.g. social assistive robots, virtual reality, augmented reality) for healthcare (including nursing) in multidisciplinary collaboration. The focus of the research is on the clients, patients and residents who should benefit from (innovative) technical interventions. A special, but not only, focus of the team is on the target group of persons with cognitive problems, such as SCD, MCI, dementia and depression.

Networking: Cooperation exists with Marisa Koini (Division of Neurogeriatrics), Regina Roller-Wirnsberger (Department of Internal Medicine), Alfred Häussl Department of Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapeutic Medicine), Sandra Holasek (Division of Immunology) und Daniela Schoberer (nstitute of Nursing Science). Further cooperation exists with: Joanneum Reseach Forschungsgesellschaft mbH, STERZ - Steirisches Ernährungskompetenzzentrum, Salz Selbsthilfe Alzheimer, TU Wien, Geriatrische Gesundheitszentren der Stadt Graz (GGZ), digitAAL Life GmbH Graz, Humanizing Technologies GmbH Wien, FH Wiener Neustadt (Verena Tatzer).

AMIGA (Gender-sensitive Social Assistive Robotics to motivate training activities for Mental Health)

  • To develop a technically innovative and at the same time efficient training environment ("Theratainment") that will enable a new service for Intelligent Multimodal Activation - simultaneously strengthening resilience and early detection of cognition deficits.
